Mzalendo Primary School & Kindergaten

There are 650 pupils in total at Mzalendo Primary School & Mzalendo Kindergarten. Classrooms are overcrowded with 70 pupils in each classrooms. Due to a lack of classrooms the school is using their only hall as a classroom. Toilet facilities are terrible as there is no running water. There is only one tap in the playground for drinking, cleaning and cooking. Children carry water and store water in a filthy storage tank.

The kindergarten needs Volunteers to assist in the teaching of these young 4 to 6 year olds.

Volunteers Work is from from 8 to 11:30

There is a huge need for DONATIONS to improve the daily lives of the pupils and to assist the teaching and the teaching staff.

Here are the specific needs that this NGO is working towards providing:

  • One woman is responsible for cooking food  to feed the 650 hungry pupils who spend 8 hours plus a day at school 5 days a week. In the Kindergarten the kids eat / drink porridge. The cost is 60.000/year 170kr/year.
  • The Cost of food for each school pupil is also 60.000 tzs / year = 170kr/year.

But approx half of the 650 pupil’s parents  can’t afford to pay for food, when their children at  school, so there are many hungry pupils every day!

Your DONATIONS are required to feed these hungry children. It is possible that the staff of our NGO can give you the specific name of the pupil or pupils that your donation feed.

Your DONATIONS are required for materials to build a chicken house in the school grounds so the hungry children can eat eggs.

Your DONATIONS are required to build a water storage tank that is elevated on pillars so that water can flow to the toilets, for washing, cooking and drinking.

Your DONATIONS are required to refurbish desks, blackboards school books, ex recuse books and to buy teaching equipment as the  school has no projectors, no computers or modern teaching equipment. All teaching is done on blackboards and pupils do their studies on exercise books.

Your DONATIONS are required to purchase computers and a copy machine as the school has none. The teachers informed that one of their dream would be a new building specifically for teaching the pupils how to use a computer.

Your DONATIONS are required to construct a new classroom to reduce the overcrowding with 70 pupils in each classroom.

Your DONATIONS are required for the purchase of materials to build a fence around the school. This fence is requested by the teachers because many pupils “run away” from school during the day.
